From animals waiting in shelters or living their entire lives in cages in laboratories as research subjects, to those tortured and killed in meat markets or subsisting in the backyards of negligent breeders, the suffering of animals at the hands of humans is unfathomable yet very real.

So we asked ourselves, "What can we do?"

Well, first we adopted two little beagles who had spent the first ten years of their lives in an animal testing laboratory. You may have noticed our Ladybugs, Mini and Maria, featured prominently on our website. 

Our passion for rescue led us, in 2022, to found Cage to Couch, a nonprofit rescue organization that provides medical care and finds loving homes for rescued laboratory research survivors and other animals who have suffered neglect and abandonment, and cruelty and abuse, especially seniors and those with special medical needs. 

We combined our love of candle making with our commitment to helping animals and Add Your Light Studio was born, with a portion of net proceeds from the sale of our candles supporting our rescue work. We strive to donate at least 30% of profit to our work in rescue.

In creating our candles we are committed to ensuring they not only do good, but are good. To that end, our candles are made from our own blend of soy and coconut waxes, and our scents are created from phthalate-free and paraben-free premium, perfume-grade fragrance oils.

Add Your Light Studio candles are vegan-friendly and cruelty-free, and we are undertaking the process of Leaping Bunny cruelty-free certification.

Two little senior beagles, Mini and Maria, both blinded in the lab, their rescue story - the essence of the quote from Billy Kwan - is the spark that ignited the flame of Add Your Light Studio.
